Double recipe! This Baked Fries Recipe is perfectly crispy, oil-free and delicious. Sprinkled with paprika and garlic seasoning and paired with a nacho cheese sauce, they are the ultimate healthy snack.

I used an air fryer to make these fries. All air fryers are different, so you may have to play with the settings that I list below for your preference. All ovens are also different, but if you want to use an oven, From My Bowl has temperature settings in this post for using an oven. I have not tried this but I trust all of her recipes so I think this would be a great one to follow. Or, just test it out and see what happens in your oven!

Nacho Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk (unsweetened)
  • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast more to taste
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice or juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions
Baked Paprika Garlic Fries
  1. Slice the russet potatoes in to 1 inch slices, or whichever style fry slice you like. Then, fill a large bowl with water and soak the slices for 1 hour.
  2. While the potatoes are soaking, make the nacho cheese sauce (below).
  3. Once the potatoes are done soaking, drain them using a strainer.
  4. Mix the paprika, garlic powder in a bowl together. Sprinkle the potatoes with the salt first and make sure they are all coated well. Then, sprinkle the paprika and garlic mix over the fries so that they are really well coated, but that you aren't clumping it onto the fries. You want a lot of seasoning on the fries so make more paprika and garlic powder mix if you need it.
  5. Once the fries are seasoned, you are ready to bake them. As mentioned, this is for using an air-fryer and I have notes listed above for using an oven (oven will speed up the process a bit). Although I don't add oil to the fries, I will use parchment paper or put a little oil onto the grill of the air fryer to ease the fries cooking.
  6. Lay the fries out evenly on the grill. For the first round, cook the fries on 155 C/ 315 F for 6 minutes. Then flip them and cook on 180 C/ 400 C for 5 minutes. Check them - they should be nice and crispy and fluffed up on the outside and soft on the inside. Remove them from the air fryer and set aside. For the next round, the air fryer is already heated up a bit, so reduce the amount of time to 4 minutes on one side and 4 minutes on the other side. Continue cooking the fries until all of them are done!
Nacho Cheese Sauce
  1. Blend all ingredients for the nacho cheese sauce together in a food processor or blender. The lemon is a key ingredient for making this taste like nacho sauce, so don't leave it out!
  2. Taste and add more Sriracha if you want more of a kick. However, as the sauce sits, the flavors meld so you may want to wait 5 minutes and check it again. If the sauce gets thick, add water or a little more soy milk to get it to the consistency you like.
  3. Pour into a bowl and use for dipping the yummy fries above. You can also use this sauce on top of potatoes or for other dips and toppings.
